Tenterfield Shire Council has made the commitment in principle. But Armidale Regional Council (ARC) and Glen Innes Severn Council (GISC) are still giving their priority to a so-called rail trail project owned by New England Rail Trail Inc (NERT), that makes it far harder to re-activate the Great Northern Railway (GNR) line when the NSW and federal governments realise that rail freight is vital to the New England region.
