Tenterfield Shire Council is opposed to cycling + walking trails that require the GNR rails, sleepers and infrastructure to be destroyed. They realise that a trail about 3 metres to once side of the track costs very little extra in the big scheme of infrastructure projects.
Glen Innes Severn Council are now assessing the off formation approach to having both rails and trails.
Armidale Regional Council is still living in the mid 20th century. They want to invest more than $2 million of rate payers money on NERT’s on formation design for well heeled cyclists riding vey expensive state of the art cycles!
Meanwhile the water supply for parts of their LGA is far below acceptable modern standards. Residents and rate payers are fed up to the back teeth of brown water out of their kitchen taps and filling their baths!
